What will happen when a nobleman envies a bishop? If, after visiting the Palace of the Bishops of Kraków in Kielce, you have become enchanted by its architecture and feel unsatisfied with the aesthetic experience, we have good news – Podzamcze Piekoszowskie has a faithful copy of it on its premises. The Tarło Palace in Podzamcze is the result of the offended pride of a rich voivode – Jan Tarło. When Bishop Zadzik turned down his invitation to dinner, stating that he would not travel to “cottages,” Tarło decided to build for himself a seat worthy of the Bishop’s visit. So he built a residence that was a copy of the Kielce palace. The building was destroyed by fire in the 19th century and is now in ruins, but is still open to the public.
